Strong on Cooking, Weak on Finish

Installed about five plus months ago, this unit meets all of our needs.
PROS: The continuous grates are perfect for starting food on a high temp burner and then slide the pan back to a lower temp burner when needed.
The variety of burner temps is great for quick boil, simmer, high and low heats.
The oven gets to temperature quickly and the digital readout is easy to read. Most of the controls are intuitive and easy to set. Most of the directions are on screen and easy to follow. We manually clean the oven interior and the surface is easy to wash.
The center griddle burner is nice to have for those Sunday mornings where French toast is a must. But generally, it's not very useful. You cannot leave the griddle on because it gets in the way of any pan over 8" wide, like a large frying pan.
CONS: My two cons are (1) that the stainless steel scratches too easily, (2) The burner caps and aluminum bases stain easily, and (3) the back vent grate is ill designed.
(1) The stainless steel surface scratches so easily, I am amazed. I've used other steel tops and never had any scratches but this surface's tensile strength is extremely poor. If scratches bother you, then this is not the product for you. Many ranges will perform equally well.
(2) The burner caps water and oil stain easily. The surfaces are a rough black iron finish that seems to hold the stains and no matter how much scrubbing, I cannot get them clean. The aluminum base that holds the cap, has a porous surface and it holds stains easily. Don't dare spill or splatter - you'll never get them clean. This is a no brainer: it's a cook top - food splatters. The surfaces should be smooth, like a porcelain or some surface that releases food and be easy to clean. These are not. It's always going to be a trial to keep the cook top looking nice.
Lastly, (3) The pan grates have rubber feet to hold them in place without scratching. But the back vent iron grate scratched the cook top the day it was put in place. Mostly because the under-surface ends of the vent grate are not the same, one is smooth, the other has a locating bump. The mounting surface is not symmetrical - one side smooth and the other has a well to receive the grate's bump. Why? I have no idea. It's a design flaw in my view!
I would recommend the unit because it cooks very well but I would warn the prospective buyer that if scratches bother you as the do me, I would look for a unit whose surface is durable, this one is not.
